What is ICU Day?

ICU Day or International Credit Union Day was brought to us by CUNA and WOCCU to celebrate the credit union movement. It’s about raising awareness for credit unions and looking back on the credit union movement history, achievements, and member experiences for CU’s worldwide. Each year bring a new theme that helps inspire credit unions to develop new great ways to celebrate the holiday. This year’s theme is “Building financial health for a brighter tomorrow.”

How did R1CU members celebrate?

Members were invited to in-branch parties on the holiday where they could enjoy snacks and prizes. In addition, members could be entered to win a giveaway by submitting stories about how the Credit Union has improved their financial experience. See below to find out what our members had to say about us.

How did R1CU employees celebrate?

This year R1 used this day to reach out to members, employees, and the surrounding community to bring cheer and reflect on our past. Employees worked to create over 300 Bye-Bye bags to donate to Vogel Alcove, a non-profit located in Dallas that provides food, education, and other necessities to children in the area experiencing homelessness. Employees also wrote over 3,000 personalized cards to members thanking them for their business.

To educate members about the importance of this day, educational videos and even a podcast were created and distributed by email and social media. View these videos below to learn more.
