Managing Debt

Don’t wait until your debt grows to an overwhelming amount before you decide to consult a credit counselor. Talking to a counselor early can help you avoid getting to that stage.

Credit counselors can help you make a plan for repaying debt while meeting ongoing needs. They also provide debt-management plans(DMP), which means they can help you consolidate and reduce credit card payments and lower interest charges.

At Resource One, we offer the Budget Buddy Program designed to educate our members on all areas on finances and help them live their best financial lives. If you are looking for help with credit, debt, budgeting, saving, or even planning for the future, our Budget Buddies are devoted to improving your financial situation with no judgment. Set up a meeting today that fits your schedule.

Keep in mind:

  • Meetings can be held by telephone or zoom. Appointments typically lasts 30 minutes to 90 minutes.
  • Appointments that can be scheduled within a reasonable time frame, usually two days to a week.
  • Depending on your situation, multiple sessions might be needed to identify issues, make a plan, and educate on how to avoid future financial problems.

Even if you don’t create a debt management plan, simply talking to a Budget Buddy will help you to create a reasonable budget and learn ways to reduce your debt.
